AQB Exposure Draft – Comments Welcome

The Appraisal Foundation’s Appraisal Qualifications Board (AQB) issued the third draft of Proposed Revisions to the Future Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria earlier this month. Previously, the AQB held a public hearing in Minneapolis, MN, on the types of revisions to the Criteria that should be considered for the future. The first exposure draft was issued in October 2010 and the second was issued in January of this year. Comments on the third draft are due to the Foundation by April 11, 2011.

It is time for congress to eliminate the Appraisal Subcommittee and the Appraisal Qualifications Board!! The makeup of the AQB and .”THE APPRAISAL SUBCOMMITTEE NEED TO CONSIST OF PEOPLE NOT IN THE APPRAISAL, BANKING OR REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY. Talk about the fox guarding the hen house. Behind every bad appraisal is a state certified appraisal. We have repeated the cycle that created “FIREA”.
Letting real estate appraisers and their organizations rule the appraisal industry is one of the greatest faults of today’s crisis. I hope the congress and the President will take this bull by the horns. They need to be castrated TODAY!!!
